We have seen His Glory

And the Word Became Flesh and He dwells among us. John1:14.

Here, we are celebrating the mystery of the incarnation of the second person of the Blessed Trinity into our world. At the fullness of time, Jesus Christ was born into our world for the purpose of our redemption. He came into world, identifying with our human struggles and challenges and bringing them to the path of liberation and sanctification. Christ was like us in everything except sin. He came into our world to become our true leader, the first-born Son, setting the pace for us to keenly follow for our liberation and our salvific experience.

In our Lord Jesus Christ, we see the light that envelopes the darkness of the world, illumining our path in the way that our journey in life is not defined by the darkness of sin but the light of righteousness, joy and peace. Our celebration of Christ’s birth into our world is a unique celebration of human’s victory over darkness and captivity and the path of ignorance and destruction.

In our sense of Christmas decorations, a big consideration is given to Christmas lights, which display many aesthetic colors, glowing and shimmering to our great admiration and joy. This depicts that Christ’s birth into our world is the dawn of the true light of joy and salvation of the world. In the words of the Gospel: “The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great light, and upon those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, upon them a light dawned”. Matt.4:16

This is the truth of Christ’s incarnation- the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us. Leading us all to experience of being illumined for our true liberation and true growth in the path of life that God has called us to embrace for our overall joy and happiness.

Christmas, with all the joyful festivities associated with it, continues to reecho in us that in and through Christ, we are truly joyful, happy and fulfilled. His birth is the foundation and enhancer of human transformation and upward movement. Just imagine what would have become of our world without the presence of Christ, and the civilization that flows from the reality of His incarnation at a time in history. Honestly, it would not just be conceivable since all that can come to our mind is a world enveloped in utter darkness and setbacks.

We glow and soar courtesy of Christ’s transforming presence and we keep on this trajectory as much as we stick to Him in the values of the Gospels that define true Christian civilization.

The core message of Christ in our world is to embrace the path of love of others-neighbors with the sense of love God himself has shown to us. This is a sense where we open ourselves to supporting others to have a life that is whole and dignified. It is a perspective of life where our true joy comes in fostering the happiness of others by truly leading them on the path of growth through our sense of service and solidarity.

This is a reality of becoming pacesetters for others, just like Christ in the context of good choices and lifestyle, thus, by that becoming credible witnesses to the values of the Gospel of Christ. We, therefore, become the light of the world and salt of the earth, a city built on the hilltop that cannot be hidden. We become credible examples for others to imitate as we imitate Christ, the light of the world.
