Mary wants to help us
It is always a special moment to journey with Mary, the mother of God and our dearest mother in the special month of May, well seen as a month of the blessed virgin Mary. The culture of crowning the icon of Mary at the beginning of this month is always cherished by many. What a blessed people, we are in our connection with the blessed Virgin Mary as she continually and unceasingly plays her role as an extraordinary maternal figure interceding for us to sail through in the journey of life that can be characterized by high and low moments, turbulence, uncertainties and anxious moments. With Mary, as our helper and companion on the journey, our fears are handled and we keep trusting in her unfailing maternal support and care.
We want the journey of life to be beautiful, smooth and not worrisome. Experience teaches that this at times could be a wishful thinking and life happens that we may see our journey dotted with unexplainable challenges and worrisome realities. At those moments, we see ourselves asking questions about life and its meaning. We raise some questions like, what is really happening to us and in what way, have we lost track, we may even raise some questions about our faith whether our divine support system is failing us. At moments of doubt, challenges and troubling situations, we all need a true succor and in Mary, our mother, we have a perpetual succor and helper. Mary is ever there to help us and grant us true comfort.
She remains the bright morning star of the sea that helps us navigate life amidst the turmoil and the storms of life. Let us keep our hope in her maternal help ever alive despite what we face in the journey of life. Mary never fails to offer helping hand when needed. She sees the trouble even before anyone is even conscious of what is happening. The story of the wedding at Cana, as illustrated in the Gospel of John reveals this dimension of her maternal consciousness: “telling Jesus: they have no wine.” Cf. John 2:1-11. Mary would ever be sensitive to worries of her children and through her intercession, fears are abated and embarrassing situations are positively handled. With her in the picture, our tears are wiped off, and we can continue to bask in joy and hope.
The strength of her maternal help should keep us radiant despite the travails of life. Through Mary, we shall always be triumphant. As we go through the month of May, let us entrust our challenges to her as we daily pray the rosary and other devotions associated with her.
